This cooking style incorporates the simple earthly ingredients of Northern Mexico with the subtle blending of spices and flavors of Californian Cuisine. Mexicali Rosa’s also provides our guests with the atmosphere of being South of the Border by using authentic products and décor to duplicate the feeling and experience of being down South. Our music further enhances the guest experience with the exciting sounds of salsa and mariachi rhythms. In an industry where the average life span of a restaurant is only seven years, we are proud to be one of the leaders with a history dating back to 1979. Mexicali Rosa’s history and culture are legendary in the city and province in which the concept was born, Ottawa, Ontario. The first store opened in Ottawa in 1979. The concept grew rapidly since its inception, and continues to be a steady growth over the last 30 years has ensured Mexicali Rosa’s place in the industry as the largest full service Mexican restaurant chain in Canada.
